The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing all necessary duties and functions related to planning, organizing and performing diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures and fulfill all duties required by the department quality assurance, Federal, State and JCAHO Standards.



Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Perform clinical diagnostic nuclear medicine testing, including general studies, cardiac studies, and the computer interactions associated with these studies.
  • Maintain Nuclear Medicine equipment in efficient operating order; perform preventative maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis; contact outside services for major malfunctions.
  • Develop film including evaluating film for technical quality. Loads and unloads mobile imaging equipment and related accessories, radiopharmaceuticals, and/or supplies.
  • Registers patients by confirming patient identification; reviewing consultation requests; checking for special instructions; consulting with the radiologist; entering anticipated services to patient log.
  • Screens patients for appropriateness criteria and pharmaceutical and other contraindications by obtaining relevant patient history, reviewing order / request and other medical records, and questioning patient.
  • Comforts patients and their families by answering questions; responding to requests; explaining procedure and nuclear medicine equipment. 


Qualifications

Minimum Education: Graduated from a program in nuclear medicine.

Minimum Experience: Graduated from a program in nuclear medicine.

Req. Certification/Licensure: California License in addition to AART and/or NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board). Current American Heart Association (BLS) Certification.
