Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and in collaboration with the VP of Quality/Risk the Stroke Program Manager is responsible for the overall coordination of the Stroke Program at assigned facility(s). Participates in and manages program development, the accreditation process and ensures regulatory compliance for all assigned program(s). Maintains and creates relevant policies and procedures. Tracks outcomes, data collection, and quality improvement efforts. Provides staff education in various aspects of the stroke patient with a focus on patient safety. Serves as a liaison between the facility and neurologist at the center(s) and neurologist providing call coverage. Ensures an effective patient care delivery system that is compliant and consistent with standards of practice. Implements strategies, processes, and standards to ensure operations support the key organizational and departmental initiatives such as quality of care, patient safety, and patient satisfaction.
Minimum Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing required. Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required. Master of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
Minimum Experience: At least five (5) years’ experience in direct patient care in Neuroscience Nursing or Neurosurgery area; one (1) year experience in management required. Strong time management skills and ability to effectively prioritize tasks. Strong computer skills with Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel programs. Ability to build and maintain strong relationship at all levels of the organization. At least one (1) year of experience as a Stroke Program Coordinator/Manager preferred.
Req. Certification/Licensure: Active, current, and unencumbered Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California required. NIHSS certification obtained within 30 days of employment required. AHA Basic Life Support required. CCRN or ACRN Certification preferred. Certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) preferred.
