Program Manager

The Program Manager with manage his/her own projects as well as a portfolio which will be run by his or her direct reports and/or other matrixed PMO department resources. The Program Manager is responsible for the successful planning, execution, management, operations transition of Program/Programs.  Program will include multiple projects varying in size and may be related to growth, process improvement, clinical, technical, compliance etc. The Program Manager will be managing a specific portfolio of projects and will be required to influence participation, engage cross-functional leaders and project stakeholders, communicate across all functional areas and leadership levels in the process and help facilitate driving key decisions for the company.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Manage own book of business (Projects/Programs). Also manage a team of resources to develop initiatives. Ensure project plans are at the appropriate level based on organization needs and they are clear, concise, measurable, manageable and capable of achieving the project goals

  • Successfully manage assigned program and manage projects in through the entire project management life cycle, from initiation through execution and closure and smooth hand off to operations. Work with project teams in evaluating, analyzing, planning, organizing, executing and deploying projects. 
  • Apply best practice project management techniques and activities, including, but not limited to, risk and issue management, scope management, schedule management, communications management, cost management, and benefits management
  • Concurrently manage multiple projects that may be at various points of the project life cycle.
  • Develop and maintain strong working, professional relationships with resources being managed, peers and management
  • Work collaboratively with leadership, strategic program development team, IT, project executives and team members to successfully complete projects and deliverables. Assist with getting teams to consensus and move teams toward achievement of interim milestones and project goals
  • Serve as a liaison between the Program Management Office and rest of the organization managing assigned program, cascading necessary information both ways
  • .Manage Projects/Programs and delivery successful outcomes and assigned PMO Portfolio, deliver artifacts
  • Actively monitor and report on the progress of program against baselined artifacts. Work with direct reports to mentor, direct, guide and monitor performance
  • Identify risks and issues and conduct follow-up on off-track/lagging projects and tasks. Develop strategies and action plans to resolve issues and mitigate risks. Escalate risk and issues as appropriate for timely resolution and mitigation
  • Understand and articulate the impact of program and projects on other business functions, the potential impact on associated functions, and how decisions are made regarding the project that may have a cross functional impact
  • Resource Management per standard PMO guidelines
  • PMO and other Process Improvements, Benefits Realization, Escalations, Reports and Strategy
  • Collaboration with VP, Peers and other teams and provide cross-functional Leadership. Assist with PMO teams and Governance Management
  • Organize, facilitate, manage cross-functional meetings, independent workgroups


Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience required, advanced degree preferred. 

Minimum Experience: Five (5+) or more years’ experience in healthcare, preferably in an IPA operational setting. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance issues is vital. At least  five (5) years related experience managing small, medium and large projects. Must have strong working knowledge of MS Word, MS Project, MS Excel, and Visio.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Certification in Project Management (PMP) desired.
