Director of Plant Operations

The Director of Plant Operations is responsible for planning and maintaining an effective organization, for administering labor and material control, for training of maintenance personnel in safety and for effective management practices. 

Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • To plan, organize, supervise, coordinate, and control the activities of the plant operations and maintenance functions which are necessary in maintaining the physical structures, H.V.A.C., mechanical, electrical systems, utilities and grounds of the facility in a operative and safe working condition. 
  • This role performs surveys and inspections to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and has extensive knowledge with TJC, CMS, and other regulatory agencies' requirements.
  • The Director of Plant Operations provides support to the department at the facility to ensure successful oversight of the hospital's operations, safety , and security.
  • The programs supported include, but are not limited to, hazardous materials, law and insurance regulations, buildings, grounds, equipment and occupant safety. All duties to be done in accordance with DNV, Joint Commission, Federal and State regulations, the State Department of Public Health, policies and procedures, and QAPI Standards.


Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. College degree in Engineering field preferred. 

Minimum Experience: Five (5) years progressive experience in supervision and maintenance with installations, construction, maintenance of equipment, utilities and buildings. Must have management/supervision of a Plant/Facilities Operations Department including (EVS, Security, Grounds, Biomed, etc.). Knowledge of facility buildings, equipment, and utilities.Knowledge of California and Federal Governmental regulations. Knowledge of AQMD, DHS, EPA, FDA, JCAHO, OSHA, TITLE 8, 13 and 22.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Must have a valid Driver's License. Certified in De-escalation Training Program preferred. Travel Required.
