Clinical Resource Nurse - Full Time, Days (Hollywood)

The Clinical Resource Nurse is a key employee in promoting and maintaining quality patient care, patient safety, and patient experience.  Educates staff and enforces policies, procedures, practices, and standards of the facility.  Implements and oversees quality initiatives as directed by the ACNO; including, but not limited to supporting quality initiatives such as reducing infections, falls and hospital acquired pressure injuries. Works alongside nursing leadership on improving patient outcomes through patient experience initiatives such as patient rounding and discharge phone calls. Functions as a resource for staff in matters relating to quality and safety as well as a resource for nursing administration.



Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Ensures and performs daily monitoring of all patients with central line catheters and Foley Catheters for compliance related to dressing changes, orders, and plan of care. Performs dressing changes on all central line catheters and closely audits central line daily assessment to ensure required documentation is complete and accurate to include completion of Physician Central Line Daily Assessment Indicator. Continuously educates staff using current evidence-based recommendations, hospital approved bundles and approved algorithms and protocols. 
  • Works in conjunction with nursing leadership, quality, and patient experience to educate, implement and audit patient safety initiatives.  During patient rounds, ensures patient rooms are clean, comfortable, and safe.  Utilizes the appropriate reporting and communication tools to document requests for resolutions accordingly, to enhance the patient experience.  Identifies opportunities to improve patient flow.     Performs patient safety audits and collaborates with unit charge nurse, supervisor, or manager on identified fallouts.  Continuously carries out hospital values and its mission to attain excellence in the provision of healthcare services by consistently fulfilling the commitment to quality, and patient safety.
  • Conducts department audits and participates in action planning for improvement.
  • Participates in the development of and oversees Employee Health safety initiatives. Assists with Infection Control and Employee Health reports, education, environmental rounds, and other activities associated with infection prevention. 


Qualifications

Minimum Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing or its equivalent required.

Minimum Experience: Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English. Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Ability to maintain flexibility and composure in a constantly changing environment. Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with employees preferred. One (1) year of previous experience in a related setting preferred.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Active, current, and unencumbered Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California required. AHA Basic Life Support required. Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only) required. AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred.
