The Clinical Lab Supervisor Supervises and coordinates work processes, quality control and competency assessments for assigned section. Ensures section compliance with CAP. Additionally, the Supervisor may perform all the duties of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

• Review and provide support for technical operations including quality control. Monitor and troubleshoot QC, instrument and reagent performance.
• Schedules and makes job assignments according to staff's qualifications and patient care and/or departmental needs.
• Coordinates CAP / quality assurance surveys / program.
• Assists the Director in evaluating and documenting employee performance.
• Communicates deviation from standards of practice to appropriate personnel.
• Functions as a role model; e.g. in customer service, team work, dress and grooming.
• Assists Director in the development of the operating and capital budget and ensuring that the department operates within the budgets.
• Coordinates staff development activities of section, including education, competency completion, validation and orientation.
• Material Management including inventory control.
• Assist Director in the recruitment, hiring, termination and retention of employees.
• Ensures departmental safety.
•  Assists in development and implementation of department policies and procedures.
•  Works with the manager to develop and recommend systems to improve workflow, efficiency and quality control of test results.
• Oversee the day to day operation of Rapid Response lab.
•  Ensures proper completion of time cards. 

Minimum Education: B.S. or other appropriate degree in one of the biological sciences.

Minimum Experience: Completion of an approved Medical Technologist intern program. Three (3) to five (5) years experience in a clinical laboratory. 

Req. Certification/Licensure: Current CA State Clinical Laboratory Scientist license.
