Center Chief Nurse Executive LACH & FRMC

The Los Angeles Community Hospital and Foothill Regional Medical Center CNE is responsible for supporting the PMH Enterprise quality, patient safety, and clinical performance improvement strategy by coordinating activities related to nursing clinical performance excellence in four hospitals.  This position will provide oversight to the CNO’s for the two hospital licenses. This incumbent will maintain and demonstrate current knowledge of healthcare organizations and clinical expertise, provide leadership and expertise to advance nursing practice and the provision of quality healthcare delivery across the licenses. He or she will create and facilitate a learning environment and atmosphere of participative management. He or she will promote an enterprise-wide culture in practice to assure the Patient First environment, increase job satisfaction and decrease nurse-turnover, and ensure compliance with all nursing and other related regulatory and accreditation standards.

The incumbent must be a highly motivated problem solver, excellent at analyzing nursing processes, and identifying viable performance excellence solutions through collaboration and team building.   He or she will develop, manage and integrate a comprehensive nursing clinical practice performance Improvement (PI) strategy to achieve unprecedented results in quality, efficiency, safety, satisfaction and value with transparency. 

Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Propose, lead, and direct strategies to improve quality outcomes and advance evidence-based care at the bedside.
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve excellence in all aspects of the patient experience.
  • Establishing standards for nursing practices and maintain authority, accountability and responsibility for nursing services
  • Completes nursing leadership assessments with recommendation and ongoing follow-up. Provides coaching and mentoring to nursing leadership to fosters a culture of safety, excellence, and accountability.
  • Contributes to organizational decision making that is consistent with the values, vision, mission and standards of practice and quality outcomes.
  • Designs and implements innovations in a professional practice to align with both existing and evolving care delivery models with a range of reimbursement strategies
  • Advances recruitment, retention and mentorship of nurses & care team members to strengthen existing and future workforce.
  • Initiates and participates in problem-solving, policy-forming conferences for Nursing/Patient Care Services. Maintains close coordination with all department to ensure continuity and collaboration of services.
  • Managing costs by continually seeking data that will identify opportunities and take action to eliminate non-value costs.


Minimum Education: Master’s degree in nursing, health administration, business administration or other related area is required, Doctorate in Nursing Practice preferred. RN and BSN required.  

Minimum Experience: Demonstrates ability to develop and lead employees at all levels including key leadership; demonstrates ability to get things done through influence and direct management control. Works independently yet collaboratively with PMH senior leadership. Builds strong, effective relationships internally throughout the licenses and externally as needed to support the licenses business activities. Has the ability to prepare and professionally present materials and programs to a diverse audience. Demonstrates strong initiative, leadership, analytical, verbal and written communication skills. Maintains the highest level of integrity and confidentiality and exhibits excellent judgment. Possesses effective planning, organizational, project management and change management skills. Displays core competencies of accountability and measurement, engaging and cooperative style, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, with a commitment to quality, safety, and service. Demonstrates competency in interpreting data and using data to drive change. Strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel and Power Point. Maintains a working knowledge of all applicable federal, state and local laws, licensure regulations and accreditation standards.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Have or willingness to obtain a California Nursing License.
